PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS DURING A PANDEMIC
What a crazy time we are living in. Somedays feel like we are in some dystopian movie and others we get through and can almost forget. But then there’s talk of protocols, and case numbers to bring it all back.
After taking nearly a year-long hiatus from newborn photography, I am back in studio ready to capture all these beautiful ‘pandemic babies’. But the decision to get back to work does not come lightly. I have really thought about what I am able to offer my families and what I am most comfortable with right now. Part of me loves working again, the other part is terrified that I or my family will get sick or that I will make another family sick. To assuage my worries, and to keep everyone safe, I have implemented the following safety protocols during this pandemic:
PHOTO SESSION CHANGES FOR 2021
Starting in April all of my family and maternity sessions are to take place outdoors. Until that time, I will be unable to accommodate indoor sessions since it is very hard to social distance in my smaller studio space and subjects are all unmasked.
I am only booking 2 indoor sessions per week to have time to sanitize the props between families and to keep my contact with others to a minimum to stay safe for my families. Please book ahead to be sure to get the week you were hoping to capture of your little ones.
All primping/and adjusting of your hair or clothes for portraits will be done by you. I’ll direct you or someone else from your family to fix whatever needs fixing. I request that you come ready for session, to minimize the amount of time spent in closer contact.
I wear a mask and and sanitize my hands frequently for the studio sessions.
For newborn sessions, I am only able to accommodate parents and the newborn in my studio. I will take a very limited amount of parent with baby poses but the time to do these shots can take no more than 15 minutes to complete. Please don’t pressure me to extend this time. This change to my session comes with a heavy heart and is my way to still be able to capture something for my families. Families with older children who are booking a CLASSIC or PREMIER Collection, a mini session is offered where we can meet up and capture the whole family together outdoors at no additional expense. (This is an easy 20 minute lifestyle-session)
I sanitize and clean everything once the studio session ends. I have lots of Lysol, antibacterial wipes, and antibacterial floor cleaner.
You can reschedule your session for 2021 at any time up to the minute your session begins without penalty or any hard feelings.
By proceeding with your session, you release me and my business from any liability associated with possible COVID-19 exposure.
I reserve the right to close my studio again if ALBERTA cases start spiking again. I believe that photos are priceless, but your lives and my family’s lives are more so. If we do miss out on a newborn session, I would love to walk you through how to capture an image at home of your little one that I can then work with to create a digital work of art for you.
With all that said, I am so excited to be working again & creating beautiful images for your families. I look forward to capturing so many amazing moments that 2021 is sure to offer us.
