NEWBORN SESSION CHECKLIST for PARENTS

Preparing & Planning for a session with your little one can feel overwhelming, especially when you are in the last stages of your journey to their birthday. With a little bit of organization you can reduce the stress and look forward to this special occasion. Below are some tips to help your little one rock their session!

  • Book well in advance of your due date & talk with the photographer about any specific poses, themes, & colours you’d like to capture. Sending us image ideas is always encouraged!

  • Bring a snack or lunch to the session. Many of Ladybirds Sessions can go for a couple hours

  • Parents wear, or bring along a change of clothes that are lightweight and cool. The studio is kept warm for babies comfort. The rest of us may sweat!

  • Bring plenty of wipes and diapers.

  • If siblings are coming to the session, bring entertainment & snacks for them. Ideally, one parent could take them back home, or for a drive if they become bored.

  • Bring everything for changing and feeding the baby.

  • Bring a pacifier if you are using them. It will often help soothe babies into the poses we want and get them to sleep.

  • If newborn has hair, bring a brush to help tame the fly-aways.

  • Bring any special blankets or props you would like to add into the photo. Photographer will not guarantee they can incorporate all the items but will try to accommodate.

  • Feed your baby just before leaving home.

  • Ensure that your newborn is dressed in a loose sleeper that is easily removed. If baby is sleeping upon arrival at the studio we can easily transition to the first poses by simply slipping off the sleeper and into the first setup.

  • Try and keep baby awake at home prior to that last feed and leaving home. Often a bath is a good way to keep them awake and then tire them out.

  • If you are bathing your baby before coming, please use moisturizer/cream on their skin to reduce flaky and dry areas. This helps in the retouching after the session.
